Artist, Paul A.  McClintock, specializes in the craft of 18th-century bookbinding and historic faux food reproduction.  Growing up in a household of talented artisans, Paul learned many traditional 18th-century disciplines from his parents and was involved in living history events throughout the Midwest during his youth.  For a period of time Paul served as an interpreter at the historic Daniel Boone Home in Defiance, MO, leading tours and demonstrations about the daily life of the Boone family. 

Paul has had the pleasure of traveling coast to coast demonstrating his bookbinding skills for the past decade.  He was invited to participate in the opening festivities of the Fred W. Smith National Library for the study of George Washington at Mount Vernon as well as Ronald Reagan Presidential Library's Colonial American Experience. Other annual events Paul has participated include Market Fair at Historic Fort Frederick in Maryland, the 18th century Market and Fair Event and Revolutionary War Encampment Weekend at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia and the Simple Treasures Show of Historic Walker Homestead in Brookfield, Massachusetts. 

 

Paul's handmade books and historic faux food displays can be found in museums and historical sites globally and in the personal collections of many notable living history interpreters. Early American Life magazine has recognized Paul as one of "America's Best" traditional artisan in their Directory of Traditional American Crafts.
