ReBinding an 18th century Dictionary

Picture
The BINDERY received an 18th century volume of GRAMMATICAL INTRODUCTION to the ENGLISH LANGUAGE from Windsor Chair maker, Matthew Stein.  Boards missing and several pages loose, but in all the text block was strong and intact.  The spine had signs of its original calf binding.  It was Matt's desire to have it ReBound in full calf to protect the original text block. Below you will find a slide show, showing some of the steps taken to join the old and the new as seemless as possible....even down to "aging" the new end papers.
