POEMS  on  VARIOUS  SUBJECTS
by Phillis Wheatley

Although she was an African slave, Phillis Wheatley was one of the best-known poets in pre-19th century America. Educated and enslaved in the household of Boston commercialist John Wheatley. Phillis  Wheatley was the abolitionists’  testimony that blacks could be both artistic and intellectual. Her name was a household word among literate colonists and her achievements a catalyst for the fledgling antislavery movement.

This work was reproduced from the original artifact for The Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia and we offer it hand bound in 1/4 calf,  1/2 calf and Full calf.
